about_langrugsoupkitchen

The Langrug Soup Kitchen is a community scheme that has been feeding the children, elderly and vulnerable since 2011.

Every Saturday the soup kitchen prepares a meal of chicken, rice and vegetables and a piece of fruit to over 400 children in the informal settlement of Langrug, Franschhoek in the Western Cape of South Africa.

And we’re getting busier every week, sometimes having to turn children away as the food runs out …. We have big plans to expand and feed all of the children, elderly and vulnerable that need our help. And we aren’t going to stop there either!

The children in the community have to deal with many obstacles some of them being medical conditions such as TB and HIV …

The medications that they need to take require them to be taken with food, and therefore our kitchen is vital and takes a pivotal role in helping the children in their recovery and health challenges.
