A very warm welcome to our very first Langrug Soup Kitchen Blog!!

We are so excited to share with you everything we have been doing recently and how you can help us to raise much needed funds to help keep the soup kitchen running and importantly help us grow so we can feed more children.

Did you know what when we started in 2011 we fed up to 300 vulnerable children every Saturday and now we are serving food to over 450 and still run out of food!  The need for us is there and growing!

As this is our first blog let’s meet the team

Firstly we have our Chair, Janet Johnson, who has worked tirelessly to turn the charity into an NPO and who works so hard in running everything, pulling it all together.  Her dedication and her energy is infectious …

Now … to the volunteers

we are so lucky to have the most amazing bunch of volunteers including

Burah, our very valued Team Leader who has been with the soup kitchen since it started in 2011,

Gloria, who also started with us from the start and who always has a smile and laugh to share with everyone.

Patricia who lives right next door to the soup kitchen and is our very much valued Head Chef and last, but not least is

Bhere, our youngest volunteer at only 17 and he’s been volunteering since he was 13!  We are also so fortunate to have volunteer students from local school Bridge House who regularly attend the soup kitchen and help with fundraising activities.

So ….. that’s us ….. now for some of our news!  We have recently launched our website!!  Please take a moment to have a look and give us a follow on our social media pages including FB, Instagram and Twitter ….. and share to everyone you know, we really appreciate your support.

We had a fantastic day recently when we celebrated Easter by giving all the children a little marshmallow Easter egg, very kindly donated by Alistair Wood of Glenwood Vineyards, The Parents Association of Bridge House School and Arthur Black of Pick ‘n Pay Franschhoek.
